Katie Wiygul, RN MSN CPNP IBCLC
I’m a mom of three boys, pediatric nurse practitioner, and an internationally board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC).
I attended the University of Mississippi, graduating with a degree in Spanish. I received my Master of Science in nursing from Vanderbilt University.
When I had my first son, breastfeeding him brought me joy and certainly some times of frustration. I knew then that I wanted to help other new moms on their breastfeeding journey and started my schooling to become an IBCLC. I now have three boys and nursing each of them has brought different challenges and opportunities for connection.
Whether you are a first time mom, an expecting mom or a mom multiple times over, each child brings a unique breastfeeding opportunity. Let me help you meet your breastfeeding goals.
What is an IBCLC?
An IBCLC is a health care professional uniquely trained in clinical breastfeeding management. To learn more about the process of becoming an IBCLC, visit https://iblce.org/.
Testimonials
I met Katie through group prenatal breastfeeding class. Our group was made up of mostly first-time moms with no breastfeeding experience and with lots of questions. Katie was so patient with us! She was also very straightforward, too. I left feeling much better about my choice to breastfeed. I was more confident in myself and also knew that I could always go to Katie with my concerns.
As a first time mother, I had natural concerns that my son may not be getting adequate nutrients or latching correctly. Katie understood my concerns and was kind and gentle with suggestions, corrections, and encouragement. Thank you for caring about mothers and their young ones.
Our lactation consultant Katie Wiygul has been an invaluable member of our circle of breastfeeding support since our son’s first week of life. She is very knowledgeable (with both personal and clinical experience), easy to relate to, and quick to reply to questions. Katie has shared practical advice and directed us to some really helpful resources to use at home as well. As first time parents, we have gained so much peace of mind by taking the guesswork out of our breastfeeding journey, thanks to her. We would recommend every new mother to meet with her at least once to encourage success with the feeding plan that is best for her and her baby!
